As COVID-19 vaccination keeps going and cases decreasing in the United States, gathering restrictions are easing up and meeting in-person at full capacity seems possible for the rest of 2021. Therefore, O’Design puts together some in-person event updates for our members.

Some of the popular states that organizations have been choosing for in-person events are in Florida, Texas, Nevada (Las Vegas), California, Illinois, and New York. Regulations will continuously be changing throughout the rest of 2021, and it is important for planners and organizations to keep up-to-date on venue gathering limits.

FLORIDA

  • The State of Florida has no restrictions on gathering sizes for events, but it is encouraged all planners and organizers to follow safety guidelines from the Florida Department of Health.

TEXAS & MISSISSIPPI

  • As of March 10, the State of Texas and Mississippi have lifted the States’ face masks mandate, and all businesses are allowed to operate at 100% full capacity.

NEVADA

  • Nevada is currently at the limit of 35% capacity for venues and gatherings that cannot exceed 100 people. However, the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services is planning to raised capacity to 50% for all businesses on March 15, 2021.

CALIFORNIA

  • The State of California is now in a four-tiered system of restrictions for businesses and gathering, and the current meeting limits and retractions vary by county.

ILLINOIS

  • Illinois had a statewide ban on gatherings of more than 50 people until early June, and all counties are placed under the three-tier system of the Restore Illinois plan. Chicago is currently in phase four of the States’ reopening plan with a gathering of 25 people, or 25% of capacity allowed, whichever is fewer.

NEW YORK

  • New York State gathering restrictions vary by zones, depends on what color zone the area is classified. Travelers from non-neighboring States (NJ, CT, PA, MA) no longer need a 10-day quarantine by receiving a negative Covid0test result within three days of arrival in NY.
  • Red Zone – all gatherings are prohibited
  • Orange Zone – gathering up to 10 people are allowed
  • Yellow Zone – nonresidential gathering with a maximum of 25 people, and residential gathering is limited to 10 people
